The Long Drive Home

It's coming to that time of year where I have to travel back home for Christmas. This is definitely a happy time for me no doubt about it but there is one thing that I definitely hate about it and that is the long drive I have to take just to get there. I'm from Indianapolis, Indiana so from here to there I'm looking at about a 10 hour drive including the two times I have to stop for gas. This journey wouldn't be as bad if I had a companion to join along with me and they wouldn't even have to drive but just having the company would make the ride much more enjoyable but instead its just me, two cans of red bull and the radio blasting as loud as possible to make sure I stay awake. Hopefully next year for my last year in school I'll be able to find a plane ticket that is affordable so that this trip doesn't have to be such a trek.

Homesick

It is definitely getting to that time of year where I am beginning to get homesick. I can usually hold it together for a couple of months but around the end of November, I start to feel it. I love my family and even though they get on my nerves at times and i enjoy time away from them, I definitely can't wait to be back with them and spend some quality time because I really do miss them. I envy those who live close and are able to go back home at the drop of a hat because I really wish I could do that but it's going to be ok because I'm going to make the most of my time with them when I get there.

The Season Is Here!!

Man oh man how excited I am now that basketball season has finally gotten here. I was anticipating this season more than any other season honestly mainly because this is my first time playing for the same school two years in a row. The difference now is that I have been at this school for one year already and I know how everything works. I won't be surprised by anything because I know what is expected of me and I will make sure I step up to the plate and meet the standards that have been put upon me because I want to be great this season and not only me but I want to help my team be great as well. One of the other main reasons I am excited for this season is because I finally for the first time after three years get to play beside one of my best friends Kendric Warren. We went to school together freshman year and redshirted and then he moved on and I stayed then he got me to come to Central and then he left for another year. So now we finally get to live the dream and play on the dame team.

Trick or Treating

This past weekend was bittersweet for me. My younger brother went out trick or treating for the very first time and I was a little upset I wasn't there to experience it with him. I always envisioned myself taking him out for his first Halloween night and knocking on all the doors with him and seeing the joy on his face when he got a handful of candy but unfortunately I was unable to do that this year but I definitely plan on being there for the future years. If its any consolation prize, I told my mother to videotape herself telling my brother that she ate all of his candy and his reaction to it was priceless I literally laugh every time I see it so that will have to do for this year.

My Family

I love being in college and for the longest time I couldn't wait to get here because I was tired of being at home. Now that I've been in college for almost four years now, I realized how much I really miss my family. Yes they get on my nerves at times and I can't stand to be in the same room as some of them, but now that I don't get to see them on a regular basis I have found out how much I really can't live without them. I'm glad I get to go home soon for christmas because I'm missing my family more than you could imagine and I can't wait to see them.

The Jungle Called My Room

As a child my room was always junky but then again what child's room isn't. I promised myself when I got older and got out on my own, like I am now that I am in college, that I would always keep my room clean. It hasn't worked out that way. Now don't get me wrong I do manage to keep it clean sometimes but it just never stays that way. I always keep it spotless for about two days. Three if its a good week. But after that I get to that lazy point and I start throwing things everywhere and then I tell myself that I'm going to pick it up later but later never comes and then it just piles up and then I'm faced with a tremendous mess. I have to get better or soon I won't be able to find my bed!!

Leading my Team

I'm just now staring my junior year of college and also my third year of college basketball. All through my time of playing basketball throughout my life, I have rarely been called upon to be a leader of the team I play for. It wasn't because I wasn't capable of it or was afraid to be but because there were always people ahead of me that were older or more experienced or just all around better at the game than I was. This year I find myself in a position where I have to be one of the leaders of my team because we have lost some of our leadership from the past years and now I have to step up as well as some other people. Being a captain of the team isn't a really big deal to me because no matter what I will step up and speak up and try and lead my team in the best possible direction for success because that's ultimately what I want for us. Don't get me wrong being a captain is a great honor and I would graciously accept that role but it wouldn't change my approach to my season and my role I have now whether I were a captain or not because in the end I just want to win and have fun doing it.
